Pet Shop

Unconditional love, companionship and joy: nothing a pet can't fix. For the expo ‘Pet Shop’, we are looking for visual art on your favourite pet. During a thematic exhibition from 19 July to 25 August, we will exhibit a multitude of works in het Oud Huis of Kunsthal Gent. From feathered friends, to fluffy four-legged friends, from paintings to etchings and textiles: all two-dimensional pets will be included in 'Pet Shop'. 

Do you have your own artwork of your beloved companion? Then submit this one before 11 June 2024 via our online platform Beeld. With ‘Pet Shop’, we want to give everyone the opportunity to show visual work. Therefore, we radically choose to allow all submissions until all the walls are full. So make sure to be quick!

You can submit with a work from your profile on Beeld.
On 5  and 6 July (between 10am and 5pm), participants bring their work to Kunsthal Gent. Practical info will follow as soon as registrations are closed.

Selection

Do you have a work that would be a perfect fit for this? Then submit it as soon as possible via our online platform Beeld starting 28 May. With ‘Pet Shop’, we want to give everyone a chance to show their visual artwork. Therefore, we radically choose to allow all submissions until all the walls are full. So be quick: because first come, first served! 

Technical requirements

  • With ‘Pet Shop’, we want to show visual artwork on the theme of ‘pets’. For this, all types of work are allowed, but they must have a clear link to the theme.
  • Video, 3D work and performance are not allowed.
  • Your work must be framed or have a proper hanging system.
  • Maximum dimensions: 1 metre high, 1 metre wide, 10 cm deep.
    These maximum dimensions include frame/hanging system.
    Make sure to indicate dimensions as accurately as possible in the entry form. If dimensions of the work turn out to vary much from those previously specified during the submission period, the organisers are free to reject the work.
  • A series or a sequence (a work consisting of several parts) is allowed. Please state this clearly in the description, and communicate the total dimensions of the series. When framed, the total series must fit within the imposed maximum dimensions.
  • Total maximum weight: 5kg.
