Prentbriefkaarten Alfred Ost BOOKDESIGN

Superlatives fit the art postcards of Alfred Ost (Zwijndrecht 1884 - Antwerp 1945). Just like viewcards, they trigger our gaze for the caressing light on the Mechelse Melaan or over an Amsterdam canal. His oeuvre belongs to the people, Ost prophesied. Handsome art cards fit that picture perfectly.

And a nice book about his entire production ties in seamlessly with that last will.

75 Years after his death, art historian and Ost-specialist Karl Scheerlinck charts a good 400 creations, as well as preliminary studies, designs and sought-after variants. Old facts are not rehashed but critically tested: untouched sources shed a fresh light on the origin and the occurrence of artistic gems.
